Dementia Essentials is a Commonwealth funded initiative providing free of charge education to eligible aged and community care workers providing support for people with dementia. In this competency-based, accredited course, you will learn how to incorporate therapeutic communication techniques; apply a person-centred approach; and develop useful strategies to respond to behaviours that require intervention.

By successfully completing this nationally recognised unit, you will gain a comprehensive knowledge of dementia and receive a formal Statement of Attainment.

Free of charge courses (for people working in residential aged care or community aged care services):

To be eligible to attend this course free-of-charge, you must be working in residential aged care or community aged care.
